Course Outline: In the study of mathematics students participate in a wide variety of problem-solving activities. The subject gives students the abilities and skills required in the workplace and in everyday life. They learn how to approach new challenges by investigating, modelling, reasoning, visualising, and problem solving, with the goal of communicating to others the relationships observed and the problems solved.
Stage 1 Mathematics Pathways articulates with the Stage 2 Mathematics Pathways subject, and may lead to other mathematics based subjects and courses.
Students who complete 10 credits of this subject with a C grade or better will meet the numeracy requirement of the SACE.
Topics Covered: This course is designed for students that have experienced significant difficulties with Year 9 Mathematics. The course involves mathematics that can be used in everyday life and the workplace. Semester 1 reviews previous skills while Semester 2 students undertake Stage 1 Numeracy Pathways topics.
