In this practical course students will have the experience of working with children in a childcare environment for a minimum of 50 hours.

Course Outline:
Students will study the underpinning core units of competency for Certificate II Community Services, with a Childcare focus. Students will develop knowledge and skills needed to provide quality care for young children and take an active role in creating environments that support children's learning and development.
Students have the experience of working with children in a childcare environment.

5 Core units & 1 Elective unit of Certificate II in Community Services
  • HLTWHS001 Participate in workplace health & Safety
  • CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
  • CHCCOM001 Provide first point of contact
  • CHCCOM005 Communicate & work in health or community services
  • BSBWOR202 Organise & complete daily work activities
  • CHCECE002 Ensure the health & safety of children

Assessment:
  • The WHS Work, Health and Safety competency must be achieved prior to the commencement of the Childcare Placement
  • A demonstration of skills at the Childcare Placement and journal entries are required to meet all competencies.
